The game
Twelve pits, forty-eight seeds. Sow, capture and count against o inglês — the middle opponent, between a galinha and o português, by the names the game has in Cabo Verde.

The origin
The rules are the ones played at Praça d'Uril in Mindelo — not the versions circulating online, which are a Portuguese school-tournament ruleset. Since October 2024 uril is Intangible Cultural Heritage of São Vicente, by unanimous municipal deliberation.
